Count Your Blessings.....

Today has been something else! The painting continues and I have found a new appreciation for the professionals. Yesterday, I mentioned one person being both Lucy and Ethyl. Well, I proved it today for sure. I was very happy to be nearly finished with the painting project. Had just touched up a few boo-boos here and there, when I decided to step back and admire my handy-work. Yep, pride is an ugly thing. When I stepped back (without looking, of course), I knocked over a 3/4 full, can of paint all over the bathroom floor! I panicked! I yelled! I cried! My precious Hubby saved the day by bringing a bucket of water, the shop-vac and some rags. I got it all cleaned up, then 15 minutes later, while adding just wee bit more paint to the tray, I forgot that I was actually holding the roller and proceeded to set it down on the floor while I was pouring the paint. I must say, there wasn't much positive "self-talk" happening at that particular moment. Quite the opposite, I can assure you. Now, I know that if my sweet sister, Steph and my dear friend Lori are reading this, they are simply shaking their heads and laughing. Why, you ask? Because this is only about the 100th time in my life that I've done this sort of thing. It is no wonder my friends never ask for my help to paint their homes.

At first I was feeling sorry for myself. "Why me?", I cried out. Then, something very special happened. I looked around at my mess and thought, "I am so blessed that this is my big problem. What a joke compared to what others endure." I decided to think about all of the blessings I have in my life. Gosh, there are soooooo many, but I wanted to share just a few:

I am blessed to have a Savior who died for me. I am blessed to have such a patient, kind and loving husband. I am blessed with beautiful sons. I am blessed to have a beautiful and kind daughter-in-law. I am blessed to have three beautiful granddaughters. I am blessed to be living in this great country. I am blessed to have such a wonderful extended family. I am blessed to have such dear friends. I am blessed to have a church family. I am blessed to have a Bible study to attend. I am blessed because the paint came off of the floor. I am blessed because I have a house to paint. I am blessed to be able to laugh at my self, in spite of myself. I truly am blessed!
